The great Maginhawa food trip: The Iscreamist

It's summer and what perfect way to beat that scorching summer heat than to eat a sinful ice cold ice cream treat. My friends and I were searching for a unique ice cream place away from the usual Dairy Queen or Magnolia or Nestle ice cream scooperies or whatever you'd want to call them.

In the long awesome street of hipster food central, Maginhawa, we found The Iscreamist.

The periodic table menu, and guess who, Abayuyu

Wall art.

For starters, I asked for the bestsellers. The lady at the counter enumerated to me all of the awesome stuff in their awesome periodic table menu. Here goes.

Dragon's breath s'mores for only PHP55 @ 4 pcs in a plate. Cups of smokin' cold liquid nitrogen go along with these yummy little popsicles. You dip the s'mores in the nitrogen cup for five seconds or so, watch it smoke, leave it off for a few seconds to avoid burning your mouth with nitrogen then enjoy!

Dip, dip, dip
and then it becomes ice cold.

Then, we tried their selection of best ice creams. The small size had three scoops in a cup, for only PHP138. Add +10 and it becomes the large cup. We ordered java chip, pistachio and toasted marshmallows.

Pistachio ice cream. Feels like authentic pistachio.

Java Chip ice cream, awesome awesome taste of caffeine and chocolate chip crumbs

...and their bestseller Toasted Marshmallows! I swear to God these tasted like real toasted marshmallows how do they even do it? Even without the two toasted marshmallows on top, the whole concoction really tasted like one.

Must-try ice creams!

The place is a bit small and crowded, especially since we went on a weekend. I wish it had more space considering the quality of food they have. We had a hard time finding a vacant seat but it was all worth the wait! The treats were awesome and I would definitely recommend this for the sweet tooth, and for everyone, in general, who wants a unique ice cream treat.

FIVE STARS!
