Water, earth, fire, and air – these are the four elements that make the yin and the yang or BALANCE… and these are the four elements that could have inspired the creators of Avatar, The Last Airbender, a three-book animated series consisting of 61 episodes all in all. It is only the avatar who can master these elements to help maintain the balance and the peace between the four nations. DiMartino, Konietzko, Ehasz and the whole production of “Team Avatar” were amazing.
Set in Asia and influenced by martial arts and other fighting styles, one of which is a traditional form of martial art in China – tai chi. It employed a lot of Asian traditions such as Japanese anime, Chinese art and history, Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism, and Indian yoga. (Wikipedia)
The term Avatar comes from the Sanskrit word Avatāra, (Sanskrit: अवतार), which means "incarnation."
In Hindu mythology, gods manifest themselves into Avatars to restore balance on earth, usually after a period of great evil. The Chinese characters that appear at the top of the show's title card mean "the divine medium that has descended upon the mortal world." ~Wikipedia
As much as we thought, this show is not an anime as it was created in the United States. (Wikipedia) Of course, people who read this might think that I am a lover of such…think again. I am not a fan of anime or most of those animated shows but the concept of Avatar is so amazing that I can’t help but get myself hooked to the storyline.
Avatar is a combination of adventure, action, comedy (in the form of Sokka), “epic legend and love story” of Aang and Katara. Of course, something about this show made me love the character of Zuko – who would have thought that despite the fiery aura he has … he and Aang would be friends in the end. Everything that happened in the storyline was unexpected. This show is really amazing.
Yay for Team Avatar!
P.S. I’d love to have Momo as a pet. (If Appa could have been smaller, I love him for a pet too!)
